This newly renovated office space was in need of a kind window treatment that would provide excellent protection from the sun while preserving the view of the beautiful Roosevelt Collection. Contractors of Regus were concerned about UV rays damaging office furniture, high amounts of glare hindering work flow, and extreme heat causing discomfort for staff.
Temporary privacy for the interior window of the Conference Room of the office space was also a concern. This room was completely made of glass for aesthetic purposes, however a shade was needed to provide adequate privacy for confidential meetings and conferences.
The Solar Control Challenge
The Regus South Loop office space needed to add its final touch for all new-coming companies that were going to lease office space. A practical and easy-to-use window shading system was needed.

– All Motorized Shade Systems were controlled with ultra-quiet RTS Somfy ST50 series motors

Fabric– All room-darkening fabric used was Mermet Edessa Twilight 0% openness in the color “Beach”.
IWS Solutions
A total of 27 Illinois Window Shade Company clutch operated shade systems were professionally installed on windows throughout the office space. The Clutch Roller Shade is a smooth, manually operated system for raising and lowering shades. A metal or plastic chain that hangs at a consistent level precisely positions the shade to the user’s liking.
For control, Rollease R24 clutches were used with each shades. This kind of clutch, designed for use with large and heavy shades, is ideal for commercial applications and is the most reliable time tested clutch in the industry.
To completely conceal the components of the roller shade system, 4” square fascia was used in the color “Anodized Aluminum”.
Of the 27 shade systems installed, 26 of which were dressed with Mermet E-Screen fabric in the color White/White. This fabric, with an openness factor of 3%, successfully filtered all sunlight that shined in the office space. The last shade system was dressed with Phifer SW4400 fabric in the color Alabaster. This fabric combines the durability of vinyl coated polyester with the latest in green PVC technology.
In a collaboration with ARCO/Murray Construction, Illinois Window Shade Company successfully managed to produce a top-of-the-line shade system that addressed each of the concerns of the Regus South Loop.
Results
Using a remote control, tenants, visitors, and employees could now effortlessly control individual shade systems from up to 60 feet away. These motorized roller shade systems are guaranteed to last decades.
Also, visitations and events were no longer going to be affected by the amount of sunlight coming through the windows. The room-darkening fabric that was used with each shade provided total UV blockage as well as solar heat reduction and protection.
