121 years in business

Illinois Window Shade Company opened its doors in January 1905 on the south side of Chicago. 121 years later it is still independently owned, still making every shade to order, and still doing it in one building.

Three addresses in that time: the south side, then Edgewater on the north side from 1946, servicing the new construction going up along Lake Shore Drive, and Elmhurst from 2021 — a move made to expand the manufacturing footprint and support a nationwide dealer program.

What has not changed is the model. Every shade is built to order in our own factory, tested on a rack before it ships, and backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
