IWS Expands PowerMove® PM8 & PM9 with Matte Black Hardware

Illinois Window Shade Company is expanding its PowerMove® PM8 and PM9 Motorized Drapery Systems with new matte black drapery components and rail hardware, powered by Somfy. The expanded offering gives architects, designers and dealers a more completely coordinated black motorized drapery system — combining IWS system design and project support with Somfy motorization and control technology.

Black architectural finishes are increasingly incorporated into curtain wall systems, window framing, lighting, door hardware, exposed ceilings and contemporary interior detailing. Black track has already been available within the PowerMove® PM8 and PM9 offering; the new Somfy component expansion takes the concept further, allowing more of the visible drapery assembly to carry a coordinated matte black appearance — a cleaner solution for applications where the motorized drapery track and hardware remain exposed.

The PowerMove® PM8 is IWS's 24V DC motorized drapery track, powered by Somfy technology. Designed for projects where low-voltage power and quiet operation are preferred, PM8 operates at approximately 38 dBA and can accommodate both Ripplefold and Pinch Pleat drapery configurations.

The PowerMove® PM9 provides an IWS line-voltage motorized drapery solution, powered by Somfy technology. PM9 utilizes universal 90–240V AC power, operates at approximately 38 dBA, and supports both Ripplefold and Pinch Pleat drapery configurations.

PowerMove® PM8 and PM9 are designed for a wide range of commercial and architectural environments, including corporate offices, hospitality, higher education, multifamily, conference facilities, cultural and institutional spaces, and high-end residential applications. The expanded matte black offering is particularly well suited to projects incorporating black curtain wall framing, dark window systems, exposed architectural elements and other coordinated black interior finishes.
