About Fettes, Love & Sieben

Fettes, Love & Sieben is a plumbing and heating contractor located in Chicago, Illinois. Since 1924 they have served Chicago and the suburbs, taking pride in extensive experience and the highest quality craftsmanship.

The solar control challenge

The office space needed a window shading system that would help control solar light and heat exposure. Their previous window coverings weren't adept at efficiently reducing the negative aspects of the sun.

Without the proper window covering, office staff was prone to increased eyestrain when working on computers due to glare, and to uncomfortable working conditions due to high temperatures.

Staff needed a shading system transparent enough to filter sunlight so they could enjoy the view outside, while cutting out the glare and heat gain that unfiltered sunlight causes.

The solution

Illinois Window Shade Company designed a shading system that both filtered sunlight and decreased solar heat, using Mermet E-Screen with KOOLBLACK® Technology — a patented technology that provides exceptional glare control and comfortable view-through while greatly reducing heat gain.

A total of 25 clutch operated solar shades were installed on all windows in the office. Each was controlled by a clutch and operated with a #10 stainless steel bead chain hanging at the side of each individual shade.

Results

After installation, office staff was able to work comfortably on their computers at any time of the day. Intense glare and solar heat gain were no longer an issue due to the KOOLBLACK® Technology fabric.

The shade systems are easy to use, durable and stylish.
